Our story
La Cordée and its beautiful gardens have been in our family for many generations; it’s been our home in Morzine for over 50 years. In the 1940s it was a meadow reserved for hay before our ancestors Catherine and Jean Claude became the custodians of this south-facing expanse to build their family home in 1970. They created one of the first ‘Maisons d’enfants’ – holiday homes specifically for children – in Morzine, hosting many holiday camps and school ski trips for several decades.

In 2005 we – Valérie, Salomé, Jean Christophe, Sam and Sacha – took over the family chalet and transformed it into a rental home-from-home with 2 separate apartments that could accommodate up to 22 people thanks to their adjoining connections. We launched La Cordée Côté Sud and we’re delighted to welcome tourists to Morzine.
This splendid view of Morzine village below the chalet and over the famous Pleney, combined with the calm and serenity of a peaceful cul-de-sac, all bathed in a sunny atmosphere, eventually leads us to consider the green spaces surrounding the chalet.

It was at this time, in the midst of the COVID-19 confinement and in the search for a more authentic way to use our land, that the idea of growing our fruits and vegetables came to us. Around the chalet are many green spaces, the idea of restoring them to their original use, growing organic produce to share with our holiday makers, neighbours and local restaurants came to us. In 2021, La Cordée de Légumes was born and today this project gives the chalet and its 1500m² of gardens, a natural, peaceful atmosphere where life is good.
In 2024, some challenges are still knocking on our door. Whilst we’ve achieved sustainable development in our gardens, our next project is to move towards a form of independence in water and energy, promoting the use of the chalet’s services including hot tubs, sauna, etc.
Today, it’s our pleasure to share these moments of comfort and tranquility on the south side of the Morzine valley, between the view of the snow-capped peaks from the chalet terrace or the harvest of fruits and vegetables under the supervision of the bees in the hive.
